Stand Firm: 1 Peter 2:1-12 (Chris Freeman)
Chris Freeman joined us on April 8th as we continued our series from 1 Peter called 'Stand Firm'.
First Peter can best be described as a handbook for Christians. Peter lays out the necessary foundation for building a life of spiritual maturity. His readers were geographically scattered and therefore faced a variety of social challenges, some of which are similar to the challenges we face today. Peter, being the rock on which the Church was to be built (Matthew 16:18), knew that his audience would need to be theologically grounded as the Good News continued to spread.
This compelling, practical, and vital letter is surely part of the response to Jesus’ directive. Peter is clear about his purpose in these writings: stimulate their faith, assure them of the reliability of God’s word, and encourage them to stand fast in God’s grace.
